TAKEN IN THE USA (part 2 – Venice Beach)

September 2nd, 2010

We had the chance to drive out to visit Venice beach for the first time in years. From what we remember, its kind of changed, in both good and bad ways. The best part about Venice Beach is hands down, the skate park. You can get hustled by some hip hop hopefuls on the way up the strip, or stop by and hook up some “medicinal green” for all you floaters! Cruise right on by toward the sand and get your sesh on (we are talking bout skating!). Pretty fucking awesome to see the set up and watch skaters pull a massive crowd. It is so good to see how much skateboarding has become more accepted and a part of American culture since our last visit, the evidence is everywhere… and there is something in U.S park designs that the Aussies could learn from!

Heres a couple of pics from our day out at Venice Beach.

Dope painting on the side of this building…..rather huge artwork, if i must say.

The shop line seemed to go forever, not much in the likes of “legit” proddy, but some awesome market stalls were on show.

Crusier bikes, trikes, skateboards, and rollerblades / skates seem to be the best mode of transport down the strip

Stopped for an average size American pizza slice and some nachos….meh!

Americans have it so good when it comes to awesome skateparks. Heres a great example

Killer skate park to shred and a beautiful beach on the other side….. what more could you ask for?

Venice Beach weapon of choice…

See you later Venice Beach, thanks for the good weather and great memories.

Vinylmation is a vinyl toy collection which you can find in a variety of styles, colours and sizes. Disney may of been slow to jump on the vinyl toy band wagon, but they look amazing and are pretty affordable.

With out carrying on to much here are a couple of pics to see what the buzz is about.

To learn more head over to the Vinylmation. There are so many dope pieces to collect.

TAKEN IN THE USA (part 1)

September 1st, 2010

Alright, alright…. so lads and ladies, we were off to a good start then realized we had forgotten the key to our blog… USB cable. In our rush and excitement to flea the country, not one of us had this link handy. Ok so excuses and reasoning aside. We had a chance to breathe this morning and rush down to a certain chain store to hook that shit straight up!! We in biz now!! Catch up blogs will be up shortly…. currently going through our 700+ photos we have collected so far to pick the best bite sized bits to throw at ya.

Our flight out was pretty smooth and most of us (Ben + Lexi mostly) got a few good hours sleep in. Virgin Australia was good to us, and the view out our tiny window of LA was a great way to wake up. LAX is a mad house, and the traffic on the roads is pretty much the same… with that a side… this place is still one of our favourite cities in the world!

As you can imagine, the trip has been a whirlwind so far… so we apologize for the lack of posts to date, but we will update the blog as frequently as possible!

There is plenty to show and tell.

Virgins’ in-flight entertainment system was pretty dope, and did the trick to keep us busy for 12 hours.

Good morning/afternoon LA.

Our beater for the trip! Ye-uh, soccer mum styles.

Our first stop to help end a crazy day of fighting traffic and jet lag before hitting dinner then bed!

Downtown Disney is full of all kinds of great restaraunts, eateries and shops. Could of spent all night here! Naples was a dope ass pizza/Italian joint that just did everything right.

Finally bed! But not before a few brewskis… Gotta love 6 dollar 6 packs from a convenient store.

Catch up posts to come… loving this Cali sun!!

MATIX – THE CAPITAL COLLECTION

August 24th, 2010

With most brands these days, production is usually outsourced to countries of Asia where costs are low. This, to some effect, had a part in the shift of the American (and Global) economy, where in turn forced the closure of many local factories and businesses. This is were MATIX is attempting to change this, with a new movement they have started known as The Capital Collection. It’s a reminder to the public and themselves, of where our efforts should be in order to keep our own economies strong. The added bonus is a more hands on experience over the entire production which allows for more quality control. MATIX have never struggled to release great products, but with their latest Capital Collection, they promise to not only deliver more top quality gear, but give back to those that helped them get there! Check out the vid for more info… so dope!
